Synopsis ----------- Los Angeles, California Republic of America He is Day. The boy who walks in the light. She is June. The girl who seeks her brother's killer. On the run and undercover, they meet by chance.
5/5 LOVE LOVE LOVE this book, mostly because it revolves more around the entire idea of a dystopian society falling apart, "Trying to create a utopia always leads to an apocalypse" - me
A kickass female prodigy, a snarky but brillant golden criminal and a explosion of sparks (and actual firearms) waiting to happen. The Republic is the large part of the country under a strict government rule, while the Colonies are the rebellion area out of the government's reach. The country is slowly destructing, at war with other countries and itself.
June is the Republic's prodigy, with a perfect score of her evaluation. She is taken through schooling and is in college wayyy before anyone her age. She is treasured and is on her way to becoming the best of the best.
When tragedy strikes, June is seeking vengeance on the Republic's most wanted criminal, Day. Day is smart (and yummy), too smart, especially for someone who ran away after failing his evaluation. How has a supposed failure managed to escape the eyes of the most highly trained soldiers, and will June be the one to bring him in, or is there more going on than meets the eye?
Hint: there is.
What I thought: This is actually one of my favorite books of all time. While i was waiting for Prodigy to come out, I read Legend 4 times and read Prodigy 3 times while waiting for Champion to come out. Marie Lu writes so completely in the moment. You are literally caught in that scene with the characters and there's no escaping until June and Day do. It's not unbearably long and has more action with witty remarks than a lot of the sappy YA out there. Definitely a great read for everyone. finished it in one sitting.
READ IT BASICALLY
enjoy loves
